Christmas Lights House in Weltevreden Park 44 Biesie Avenue, Weltevreden Park, Johannesburg

A beloved local tradition, the Christmas Lights House at 44 Biesie Avenue features an enchanting display of festive lights throughout December. The lights are typically on from 19:15 to 22:15 daily, weather permitting. While there is no entrance fee, visitors are encouraged to make a donation in aid of CANSA. Melrose Arch – Destination Christmas Johannesburg, South Africa

From November 15, 2024, to January 9, 2025, Melrose Arch transforms into a winter wonderland with spectacular light displays, festive markets, and family-friendly activities. Entry is free, making it a must-visit for holiday cheer.

Montecasino – Magical Italian Village of Lights Fourways, South Africa

Experience the charm of a Tuscan village adorned with over 285,300 LED lights. The indoor setting ensures enjoyment regardless of the weather, with daily 3D projection shows at 19:30 and 20:30. Entry is free, with various dining and entertainment options available.

Johannesburg Zoo – Festival of Lights Johannesburg, South Africa

From November 28, 2024, to January 5, 2025, the zoo hosts illuminated life-size animal sculptures, live entertainment, and a night market. Open Thursday to Sunday, 19:00 to 22:00. Tickets are R175 for adults, R75 for children aged 3-12, and free for children under 3.

Lawley Street Christmas Lights Pretoria, South Africa

Throughout December, residents of Lawley Street in Waterkloof decorate their homes with elaborate light displays, creating a festive atmosphere for visitors. The lights are typically on from 19:00 to 23:00 daily, and entry is free.

Moray Drive Christmas Lights Bryanston, South Africa

A community-driven display where residents of Moray Drive adorn their homes with festive lights, offering a delightful experience for visitors. The lights are usually up throughout December, and entry is free.

Emperors Palace – Christmas Village Kempton Park, South Africa

From November 22 to December 31, 2024, Emperors Palace presents a Christmas Village featuring twinkling lights, festive characters, charming shops, games, and Santa Claus. Open daily with 90-minute slots from 15:00 to 22:00. Tickets are R75 for adults, R45 for children aged 3-12, and R65 for pensioners.

City Sightseeing – Sunset and Christmas Lights Tour Johannesburg, South Africa

Experience Johannesburg’s iconic sunsets and Christmas lights on a special three-hour tour aboard City Sightseeing’s open-top Red Bus. Tours run from December 7 to December 21, 2024, starting at 17:30 from The Zone @ Rosebank and ending at Melrose Arch. Tickets range from R150 to R240 per person.
